  • Income Details

Enter each of your employment income amounts in the rows below, there is space for 3 jobs. Beneath jobs you'll have space to enter Other Monthly Income:
  • Gross Income is your wage multiplied by your hours, BEFORE mandatory deductions such as Taxes, SS, and Unemployment Insurance have been subtracted from your pay check. Net Income is what you have left after these deductions are taken out. Some budgets want to know Gross, some Net. For MyPath purposes, I put in a deduction rate of 20%, your actual rate may be higher or lower depending on several factors.

  • As a general rule, you want to spend no more than 30 percent of your monthly GROSS income on housing. If you’re a renter, that 30 percent includes utilities, and if you’re an owner, it includes all home-ownership costs such as: mortgage, interest, property taxes, home insurance, and maintenance. Banks will generally only allow you to have a mortgage payment that is "At Most" 30% of your income, so if you plan to own, this is especially important to keep in mind.
